many a times we are aware about the problems, their causes - their scope - their coverage area.... not only that, we even know the solutions to such problems.. we are able to analyse those issues... and we have the capacity to neutralise them... but, we INDIANS lack in courage... we really need to act with self confidence ? but the question stirring my mind is : CAN WE ?

JAI HIND...!
tomorrow its 8th october...!
this is our "INDIAN AIR FORCE DAY"...
on the evening of this....
i remembered one photograph...!
it was taken during KARGIL WAR...
a two years old kid... with "confused" look... looking at everyone..... his mother, in traditional pujabee white salwar-kameej..... her eyes , reflecting nothing or if at all anything then probably pains... a huge loss... and on sidelines of this.. there was a funeral......
it was the funeral of war martyr... flt.lt. ajay aahuja !
since then, til today...... that photo struck my mind.... that photo created , one, ever wet wound to my heart...
i have spoken with many relatives of such war martyrs... their mothers, friends, spouse, siblings....
they kept saying...."we are proud of him..!"
if we approach a common man... or any govt official.. or any MLA / MP... everybody claims the same... "we are proud of him... he gave up his life for our nation.. his death showed the path of victory to us.." and all such things...
let us ask ourselves..:
are not we proud of him.. ? are not we all , moved by his unbelievable courage ?
yes we all... we all appreciate his guts.. we all appreciate his love for duties... we all accept his TYAGSHEELTA... there is no scope for denying his brave act...
but , the question which always kick me is that, why we need the loss of life , to be pride of our soldiers..?
why that only during adverse situations or external aggression we unite ? why have we became so reactive ? why, still after sixty years of independence, we are unable, to inculcate the qualities of soldier like discipline , courage and proactive attitude, in ourselves..? beside just the bubble of words , why we were unable to bring vigillance in our life...?
i strongly believe that , if at all we desire to understand life of a soldier... we must inculcate at least some of the VALUES ASSOCIATED WITH HIS LIFE...!
instead of just expressing proud on our martyars.... we should do "SOMETHING" which will bring smile on "their" faces.....
but my heart goes with the same question ... can we ?

If we can stop thinking that "its their job" about soldiers!
ReplyDeleteIf we condition ourselves not to wait till a calamity strikes!
The point you are making is apt. The problem with it is it would require a lot of "idealism" in life of 'everyone' and 'all the time'!
We can say, instead of "vigil" may be even a bit of courtesy and concern can work!(to begin with!)
If everyone can uphold their self esteem respecting others', then we don't need "loss of life" to emerge as a sovereign nation!
